  • 2017 IMPACT Award: Brigadier General Stacey T. Hawkins (2007-08)

The White House Fellows Foundation & Association is pleased to announce that we will be presenting the 2017 IMPACT Award to Brigadier General Stacey T. Hawkins (2007-08). The IMPACT Award recognizes recent White House Fellows who have demonstrated both remarkable achievement or transformational contributions in their field as well as a sustained commitment to the White House Fellows program. Stacey Hawkins exemplifies these criteria in every way.

After his 2007-08 Fellowship year, Stacey served as Special Assistant to Vice President Cheney and Vice President Biden for Defense Policy and Intelligence Programs, where he advised the Vice President on all DoD matters, and acted as the primary Office of the Vice President (OVP) liaison to the National Security Council and the interagency. He brokered DoD support for the rapid fielding of Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles for Operation Enduring Freedom coalition partners, which not only saved lives but also had a direct impact on NATO bilateral negotiations. He was selected for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan Fellowship and served as one of only two students out of 108 to be handpicked for the Dean’s Student Advisory Council. Later he served as Director of Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection for the Air Force Air Mobility Command. On August 31, 2017, he will take over command of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex, a $3 billion/8,500 employee organization that ensures the readiness of the nation’s most vital combat weapon systems such as the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the F-22 Raptor, F-16 Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, Special Operations tactical airlift platforms and the Minuteman III nuclear missile enterprise.

Stacey is a strong contributor to the White House Fellows program, having served four times as a Los Angeles Regional Panel member, and many times as a reading weekend participant. He has mentored numerous applicants to the program, and has been integral to the placement of several WHF’s in the National Security Affairs Office of the Vice President.

We will present the IMPACT Award to Stacey on the evening of October 26, 2017 during our Annual Leadership Conference in Washington D.C.
